Dynamic Points Award Ratio

This article will be covering the Dynamic Points Award Ratio feature. The Dynamic Points Award Ratio feature was created to give Restaurant Brands the ability to create multiple sets of points that are given to customers per dollar they spend during certain time frames.

Please note, this is only applicable if you are using a subtotal based loyalty program

  2. Using Dynamic Points with Regular Loyalty
  3. Using Dynamic Points with Loyalty Earning Tiers (Beta Feature)

Feature Overview

Before this feature was released, we only allowed one set amount of points to be awarded per dollar spent, regardless of the time. This feature aims to make that functionality more controllable by allowing multiple set amounts of points to be awarded during certain time ranges.

As an example, if your Brand gives 10 points per dollar spent and you offer double points Tuesdays, then you can set Tuesday from 00:00 to 23:59 to be 20 points per dollar spent by using the Dynamic Points Award Ratio feature.

Please note: The amount entered under the Points Award Ratio will replace the standard points-per-dollar award ratio. It will not add to it, so be sure to enter the full number of points that customers should earn per dollar.

Another example could be if your brand offers double points during Happy Hour daily, then you can set up the points to be awarded from 10 to 20 points for any dollar spent between 14:00 to 16:00.

Using Dynamic Points with Regular Loyalty

If you are using regular loyalty, the amount entered under Points Award Ratio will replace the usually award ratio. For example, if you usually offer 1 point per $1 spent and want to offer double points, you would enter a "2" in this field.

  1. Log in to the Incentivio Admin Portal
  2. On the left-side menu, select Setup > Merchant Setup, then select Edit on the applicable Merchant.
  3. Next to Dynamic Points Award Ratio, select the "On" option. New fields will then display

  4. All days of the week will be selected by default. Select the Day(s) of the week for which you would like to turn off the Dynamic Points Award Ratio. The default time range for each day will be 00:00 - 23:59; if customers will only earn bonus points for a period of the day and not the entire day, enter the applicable times (in military time).
  5. After entering the applicable days of the week and times, enter the new Points Award Ratio. If you use regular loyalty, the amount entered here will replace the usual award amount. For example, if you usually offer 1 point per $1 spent and want to offer double points, enter "2" in this field. This will award 2 points for every $1 spent during the selected timeframe.
  6. If you want to have more than one time range for a certain day, you can select the "Add Time Slot" button. This allows you to set up a different amount of points to be awarded for a different time range within the same day.

  7. Once you have filled out the table with the number of points to be awarded and their respective time ranges, then you can click save to save your entries.

Points will be awarded based on the time the user placed the order - not the pickup time.

Using Dynamic Points with Loyalty Tiers (Beta Feature)

If you are using Loylaty Tiers (Beta Feature), the amount entered under Points Award Ratio will act as a multiplier for your standard award ratio. For example, if you have loyalty tiers set up like:

  • Bronze - 1 point per $1 spent
  • Silver - 2 points per $1 spent
  • Gold - 3 points per $1 spent

In this case, to offer double points to all tiers, you would still enter "2" in this field, as it multiplies all tiers by 2. This will ensure each tier is appropriately awarded double points.

Follow the same steps as above to set up this feature, keeping in mind that it is a multiplier, NOT replacing the point value.

If you have any questions about the feature or need to obtain access to the Merchant section of the admin portal, please email support@incentivio.com for assistance.
