Transferring Your App to Your Own Developer Accounts (iOS & Android)

If you’re planning to manage your mobile apps under your own Apple Developer and Google Play accounts, either because you’re moving away from Incentivio or would prefer to own your developer accounts directly, this guide walks you through what to expect and what steps you’ll need to take.

Incentivio will work with you to make sure the transfer is smooth and that your apps stay live without losing your ratings, reviews, or download history.

iOS App Transfer (Apple App Store)

What You’ll Need

To receive your app, your Apple Developer account must:

  • Have an active Apple Developer Program membership

  • Have accepted the latest Apple Developer Program License Agreement

  • Have no outstanding agreements or holds in App Store Connect

  • Use two-factor authentication

How the Transfer Works

  1. Incentivio will start the transfer from our Apple Developer account.

  2. You’ll receive an email from Apple letting you know that an app transfer is pending.

  3. Log in to App Store Connect → Agreements, Tax, and Banking → App Transfers.

  4. Review and accept the transfer request.

  5. Once accepted, your app will appear in your own Apple Developer account (typically within 24 hours).

After the Transfer

  • Your app’s reviews and ratings will stay intact.

  • You’ll now manage future app updates, certificates, and push notifications.

  • Any future app updates must be submitted through your own Apple Developer account.

Android App Transfer (Google Play Store)

What You’ll Need

Before starting, make sure you have:

  • An active Google Play Developer Account

  • Access to the Google Play Console

  • The package name for your app (Incentivio can provide this if needed)

How the Transfer Works

  1. Complete Google’s official transfer request form:
    Request to transfer an app to another developer account

  2. You’ll be asked for:

    • The developer names and account IDs for both the current and new accounts

    • The app package name(s)

    • Whether you’re using Play App Signing

  3. Once the request is submitted, Incentivio will confirm the transfer from our side.

  4. Google typically completes the transfer within 48 hours.

When the transfer is complete, your app listing, installs, and reviews will all remain the same, just under your developer account.

Android Keystore (App Signing) Information

If Incentivio previously handled your app signing, you’ll need to request a new upload key from Google once the transfer is complete.
This key is required to sign and publish future updates to your app.

Here’s how to do it:

Resetting Your Upload Key

Estimated time: ~4 days

  1. Sign in to your app in the Google Play Console under your new account.

  2. Go to Setup → App Integrity → App Signing.

  3. Scroll to the section labeled “Request upload key reset.”

    • Select Upload key reset (not “signing key reset”).

  4. Choose “Other” as the reason and upload a .PEM file provided by your development team.

  5. Visit Google’s Key Issues Form:
    https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/contact/key

  6. Fill out the form with the following details:

    • Select "I have an app signing key upgrade-related issue" 

    • Fill in: First Name, Last Name, Email (this should automatically fill in based on the account you are logged  in to)

    • Location: USA

    • Developer name & ID (from your new account)

    • App package name

    • Enrolled in Play App Signing: No

    • Issue type: “I have other issues related to key and signature”

    • Feedback:

      Access to this app was provided.
      Need to upload a new app update to this existing app.
      The keystore file was not provided.
      
    • Attach your .PEM file (your dev team will know to create this)

  7. Submit the form.

What to Expect

  • Day 1: You’ll receive confirmation from Google that your request was received.

  • Day 2: You’ll get a new key and the date/time it becomes active (usually after 2 days).

  • Day 4: You can upload a new app update using your new key.

 

After Both Transfers Are Complete

Once both your iOS and Android apps have been transferred:

  • Incentivio will no longer manage your app or developer accounts.

  • You’ll be responsible for future app submissions, updates, and certificates.

  • Our team will remove any build files or credentials related to your app after transfer confirmation.
